Straw (#1) took on Purple (#2) hungry for their 1st win of the season. Left hanging by the Lost Boys, Purple had trouble putting away the pesky Straw team. On 2 occasions, Straw made comebacks the last of which took a seemingly safe 16-11 lead all the way to 16-14 until they finally succumbed at 17-14. Straw finishes the regular season at a tough-luck 0-7 and Purple clinched 1st place at 6-1 by virtue of their win over Red (#3) which also finished 6-1. Accordingly, next Monday in the quarters, Purple and Straw will battle again with the rematch set for Hope High. On the baseball diamond field, Green (#6) took on Gray (#5). Green had a 14-12 lead when Grey took over scoring the last 5 points of the game to win 17-12 going away. Green finishes the season at 1-6 ans as the #7 seed will take on Red next Monday in the quarterfinals at Moses Brown. On the lacrosse field, in a battle for 2nd place, Red (#3) jumped out to an early lead on Blue (#4) but Blue was able to come back. Red again took a sizable lead and Blue who was playing catch-up all game was not able to get over the hump. Red won 17-12. Over at Hope High, White (#8) also jumped out to a big lead, 7-1, over Black (#7). Black was able to regroup though and made it 9-7 at the half. The score went back and forth in the 2nd half and the game had to capped at 15 because of darkness. At 14 all, Captain Cogan busted long and somebody hucked to him long for the winning score 15-14. Black is now 2-4 and no matter what happens on Wednesday will be the #6 seed. OTOH, if White beats Green on Wednesday and Grey loses to Black, then Blue, Grey, and White all end up at 4-3. Since White has beaten Grey and Grey has beaten Blue and Blue has beaten White, we would go to point differential. If Grey wins on Wednesday, no matter what happens to White, they get the #3 seed and take on Black on Monday. The standings are as follows: 1)Purple 6-1 2) Red 6-1 3) Grey 4-2 4) Blue 4-3 5) White 3-3 6) Black 2-4 7) Green 1-5 8) Straw 0-7 The PJB reporter and photographer were out last night interviewing us.
