Those specials will be in effect until further notice. 3) Beach ultimate THursday at 6:00 PM at Scarborough Beach. Directions: 2001 Rhode Island Summer League 4) Schedule for Monday July 9, 2001 (1) Purple v. (7) Green - Wheeler Soccer Field (Single Field on Walker) (2) Denim v. (8) Black - Wheeler Soccer Field (across Walker closest to Road) (3) Orange v.(5) White - Moses Brown Tennis Courts (4) Burgundy v. (6) Jade - Wheeler Soccer Field (across Walker closest to Woods) 5) last Night's Action: Orange 17 Black 16 ???? Not sure of the final score, all i know is that Black jumped out to a 9-3 lead at half and then 11-6 but Orange behind the veteran leadership of Flip, Cutter, Josie, and the crew clamped on a zone that the young legs of Black had trouble attacking. Real good stuff by both teams. Purple 17 Jade ??? No game report. please report score to lsh@cs.brown.edu Denim 17 White 12 (by Captain Chia of White) Catches, drops, hucks, hammers, zone, no zone, we lost...never mind that, what about whites cheer.. White regrouped after the game and came up with what may have been the most devestating cheer in the history of the game..A combination Tone-Loc, DJ Logic, Staind, MC HAMMER, Les Miserable, CATS Cheer, which made little sense, but was awe inspiring, Andy Frischman performed an awesome epileptical breakdance, while Laura Schaeffer performed a double sowcow with a french twisting flying backflip into an inverted tumbleweed. Unable to regroup, the flabbergasted Denim, was only able to comeback with a semi-descent cheer that contained some kind of reference to slaying a white shark. Screaming Green (15) Vs. Burgandy (17) Report by Cory Byrum: The screaming greens were out in force last Monday with their best attendance to date. With the arrival of Alan Bonner the circle was complete. Alan played a fantastic first game with the greens and proved to be very helpful to the defensive effort. It was a windy day and I personally thought zones would show themselves to be the deciding factor. Yet this was not the case as both teams for the most part decided stick and beat each other up on man. The girls with poison-berries went up to an early lead of 4-2. The screaming greens came charging back to the tune of Colin's horn and tied it up 4 a piece. I think we traded the next two points. ( One to each team.) The Screaming greens then went on a devastating run resulting from key hucks from Vet and chilly O bringing the score to 8-5 greens. It was about this time that key players from both teams met to discuss the possibility of a point bartering system. A green proposal was made. ( One stinky green shirt for 2 points. ) It was rejected and no counter proposal was made. As negotiations failed however I was alerted to a nefarious plot concerning the possible humiliation of our trumpet player in an effort to silence his taunting pep band melodies. It seems Colin "plotted against" Smith was to have his shorts around his ankles and a trumpet stuck somewhere the details of which I am unsure. I would like to thank SAKLILPIPSEORN my informant whose name has been encrypted for her or his protection. Fortunately for our minstrel my indifference to his plight kept him from harm. Now onto the part of the game I like the least. The score was 8-5 right? So we took half right. Wrong. The girls with poison-berries mounted a massive assault against the Screaming Greens spearheaded by their women. Our women fought the good fight but got no breaks. The Screaming greens lost their footing and slid behind 9-8 at half. The Greens pulled to the girls with poison-berries and came up with a D and a quick score tying it up 9 all. On one particular play someone threw it to Captain Dave Rosenberg for the score. As the disc sailed right towards him he yelled "I can't see !!!!" DOINK. The disc hit him square in the chest. ( Nice throw by the way ) Dave being the intense player he is went after the second effort. He took a couple steps and laid it out. It was the most beautiful layout imaginable. He sailed his entire body horizontal about three and a half feet off the ground and caught the disc. Unfortunately he was about 5 feet out of bounds before the layout. Remember to keep an eye out for the fence Dave, that was close. Both teams were in hysterics. Chris O'Connell fell to the ground he was laughing so hard. So I barely able to control my own laughter sprinted deep in the only time I could get away from him. I forget how the next couple of scores went but the lead kept changing until they pulled away 15-12. Then there was some serious, madly intoxicating trumpet playing accompanied by the sidelines cheering lead by the booming voice of Jeff. Yeah you know the one. We pulled back 15 all. Scott "Just got his pilot's license" Wiant flew up with a delicious end zone D that was key. Unfortunately defense being only half of the equation left us short. The girls with poison-berries had the day 17-15 them. The Screaming Greens had the jump on the cheer. Yet somehow burgundy had harmony. It was a force more unstoppable then any cheer I have heard thus far. One more note. I would like to thank Ray for crossing the demilitarized zone and sitting with the Greens at Olivers. Ray if you ever need political asylum you know where to come. Happy 4th everyone. At that point, jade threw a 1-3-3 that caught us off guard, but we woke up in time to stop the bleeding at 5-5, and took half 9-6. We then got caught without enough experience on the field, and jade was able to make the score 10-10 with some strong playing in the cup by their wily old guys. Purple put our *old guys* (average age: 22) on the field, and took it to 14-11, at which point a hard cap went on. Purple took the last two points to close it out with a final score of 16-11.
