We wish them all a speedy recovery. Black was hungry for another W and took advantage of Kiwi turnovers. The half was 9-7 Black but 2nd half saw Kiwi falter as they just didnt have the numbers. Kiwi played a 3 man weave O which Black countered by sending a person to poach the lane. Steph Kissam, RIPUL's most underrated woman, and Mike Schein both had big days for Black. Deepak for Kiwi made some sick grabs. White 17 Denim 10 Denim was missing some key players including co-captain Amy Greer (out forthe season with a knee injury) and Dartmouth's Max Crossley. Meera Shah,Rich "Chia" Lucia, and Scott Mathieu were a very solid handling core forDenim. White again barely had 7 by game time, but was bolstered by thereturn of captains June Park and Jeff Fleischaker (injured in two weeks agoin Montreal). White was missing most of its height-- Justin, Bobbers, Kira (injured helpingher team to a semifinal finish at Purchase Cup), Aaron, and Tim-- butadjusted with speed and good flow. Breakmark throws from White's handlers, especially Dave Buckingham, kept the O moving. Eric Weiss had a big game onO and D even while struggling with painful back problems. Injured AndreBeskrowni was again on hand to cheer his team on (we're hoping to have himback in time for the playoffs). Physically, we're a wreck, but damn, I lovethis team!Denim's defense was especially tough in the red zone, getting numerous Dsafter White had confidently moved 50-60 yards. Denim got great play fromDavid Vavasseur who had a number of big catches and defensive plays. A huckfrom Fly to me up the sideline floated just a bit and Dave made up theground, swatting the disc away just as my hand closed on it, but before Istopped the spin-- great D! Player of the game for Denim was Alan "Lucky"Lepre, who got several blocks by poaching onto receivers who looked wideopen. Spirit was extremely high as both teams played with sportsmanship and respectfor their opponents. Both White and Denim reached new lows with lame cheersbut fudgecicles provided by White were a big hit. I call for ice cream toreplace cheering whenever the temperature/humidity index reaches apredetermined level. Who's with me? Purple 17 Orange 6 Forest 17 Burgundy 10 Wednesday July 24 Results Forest 17 Black 12 Forest showed why they are the best team in RIPUL so far this season. First half saw Forest streak to a 9-4 lead with a sticky man D, some lucky hucks, and some good flow. 2nd half saw Black come out strong forcing turnovers off their zone D that they converted for scores. Mike Schein played real well with some sweet throws and D firing his team up. Black pulled to within 12-11 but Forest kept their composure and effectively broke Black's zone, which was used too often. Forest was lead by Joe T. who is making a major push for male Toby award and MoFitz who made some key D plays. The unsung hero though was RIPUL's youngest player Ryan L. who played strong D and was able to come down with a few hucks, including the key score to make it 13-11. --=-TciagM0Jzpb81WPHO/TF Content-Type: text/html; CHARSET=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit People:
