From: Brian Sauro Subject: Wednesday, July 24; White vs. Orange Wednesday, July 24 White vs. Orange In an age when RIPUL players are criticized by fans as overpaid prima donnas and the league owners as money-grubbing incompetent sleazes, here's a heartwarming story about what it means to put Team before Self that should restore your faith in the true meaning of ultimate. Once I told our league commisioner (a black team player) that my game writeup was going to name him as the most spirited player on his team. He told me that he would censor that report, because even though it was true, the comissioner's well-earned reputation made such a statement a greivous insult to his team. I won't name this person because though it's highly unlikely he actually reads these writeups, I suspect he does a search on his own name to see if anyone's talking about him. But you all know who I'm talking about. Here's to you big guy. Oh yeah, and the White team played the Orange team yesterday. Orange beat White. Everyone had a good time. Thanks O-face. One more thing: All RIPUL players are invited to play at Woods Hole ultimate's hat tourney this Saturday in Falmouth (about 1:15 from Providence). You don't need a team. Pre-registration on the web site is encouraged, but single players can just show up at the fields Saturday (9:30-10:00 am) and you will be placed on a team. Friends are welcome to play together on the same team.
