Unfortunately, the squad was blinded by the bling-bling of Team Bling and fell behind early 5-2. More importantly, the offense was not flowing as everyone was still getting used to each other. The timeout calmed the Snowfolk down and suddenly it was a game again. Khaki took half 9-8, and then stategery came into play. A pre-game agreement to legalize zone for play in the 2nd half was struck, leading the 2 teams to spend all of halftime discussing zone O and D. White pulled starting 2nd half, threw a zone D, and scored, tying the game and scorig some big momentum. A mixutre of zone and man defenses plus some amazing catches by Karen Bernhardt, a nice self mack in the endzone by Celinda Gourd, and some sweet hucks from Dr. Bill Brown put Snowfolk up 15-12 in the 2nd half. Khaki regrouped and made an awesome push, gettig D's and showing some awesome flow on offense, while White got a little fatigued and the cuts got a little sloppy. At 15-15, White had to burn anpother timeout to rest. On the crucial 15-15 point, White struck the first blow in the game to 2 when Celinda zipped in a pass to Jeremy Kern in the endzone to make it 16-15. After exchanging turnovers on the last point, White forced a very quick turn and then saw Joe Bernhardt wide open in the endzone tfor the game winning score. White MVP of the game: Jason Donahue, for his tireless cutting and his steady leadership during week 1 Wednesday: Kelly 17 White 14 On an even hotter and humider (I know, I'm just lazy) day, the Snowfolk took on the Color of Money. With a couple more players showing up for the first time, White spent the first few points getting used to each other's cuts and fell behind 3-0. After a furious rally to tie things back up at 4, spurred by an amazing catch by Joe Bernhardt despite getting hacked like Shaq, White traded points till Kelly went up 7-6 then ran off 3 straight points to take half 9-7. White came out strong in the 2nd half too, going up 11-8, but then it started to come apart for the Folk in Snow. A few turnovers proved very costly as Kelly stormed ahead 12-11. White called time to rest, again having few subs, and then came out to a tight Kelly zone D. White got the disc within 5 yards of the goalline and then suffered a tough turn, and Kelly marched the disc right back downfield despite fierce man D from White. After that, White really struggled with Kelly's zone, and Kelly was able to beat White's zone and soon it was 15-12. A couple points were exchanged, and with the score 16-13, White was able to march the disc down the field to bring the game close and set up what the Snowfolk hoped would be a tremendous comeback. Alas, it was not to be, as the steady and heady play of Kelly's offense on the next point was too much to overcome and Kelly took the game 17-14. White MVP of the game: Larry Mulcahy, for using his size to come down with a ton of discs on offense and knocking a bunch away on D, including one as the deep in the zone where he apologetically yanked the disc out of the air over an offensive opponent half his size.
