In action last night, White took on Royal in a rematch from the opening game
in which White won 17-15. This game was, quite frankly, very sloppy with
many unforced turnovers by both sides. Both teams employed plenty of zone
defense which contributed to the turnovers. There were at least 3 points
that had double-digit turnovers. White was able to pull away in the 2nd half
to win going away 15-10. Nick Forget and Betsy Stubblefield had particularly
strong games, along with the usual stellar play from Captain Cogan and
Whitney "birthday girl" Kakos. Happy B-day to Peter Brockmann of Royal as
well. As an aside, Fred rocks as a captain. His team always plays hard, is
well-spirited, and he does a great job teaching the fundamentals.

Purple took on Key Lime and Purple was able to finally enter the RIPUL
victory column. In contrast to the Royal-White game, there was very little
zone played and far less turnovers. In fact, this game was over when
Royal-White were having halftime!!! Purple is just starting to gel and is a
team to be reckoned with in the coming weeks.

Don't forget, playoffs (everybody will have at least 2 games and the
finalists get 3 games) will be all day at Wheeler farm on Saturday July 31st,
with a bbq to follow. Much more details in the coming weeks.

Standings are as follows:

1) grey 4-0
2) key lime 3-2
     white 3-2
4) navy 2-2
     green 2-2
6) royal 2-3
7) black 1-3
8) purple 1-4

Monday games:

Purple v. Green - Moses Brown Lacrosse
Key Lime vs. White - Moses Brown tennis Courts
Royal v. Grey - Brown AC
Navy vs. Black - Brown AC
