Wednesday July 14th Action:

Black (#7) vs. Grey (#8) - The previously unbeaten Grey fell to a tough,
determined Black team in a very exciting, well-played game 17-15. Black took
a 9-7 halftime lead but the score was close throughout. In the end though,
Black's defense was a little bit stronger than Grey's and they were able to
shut down successfully the hucks Grey uses so effectively. Captain Mad
Dussault was all over the field laying out both offensively and defensively
making big plays, Tim McBride was catching long hucks, Ian Fischer and played
another solid game, Seth Weiberg is the quickest player in the league
perhaps, and Megan and Valerie were always getting open when needed. For
Black, Captain Safdork the Clown Senior made a couple of huge D's late in the
game, Fuyuki was open pretty much all game on offense, Johnny Luv, Evan,
Brian, and Vette all played solid, and the rest of the crew pitched in to win
a hard-fought but very spirited game. Good job both teams!!!

Navy (#5) v. Green (#6) - I only watched a little bit of this game but, like
the other game last night, the score was close throughout. Navy was
shorthanded but played well. Green had a bitt too much and won 17-15.

In Monday's games:

Key Lime 17 White 14
Purple 17 Green 11
Black 15 Navy 13
Grey 17 Royal 14

If any scores are wrong, the captain should let me know and Loring
(lsh@cs.brown.edu) know please.

RECKLESS PLAY: For the majority of the league, I can safely say that playing
summer league is 1 of the highlights of the week and most of us are
competitive and want to win. That's all fine and dandy but please be aware
that when you are making a bid on a disc defensively, you cannot be
completely oblivious to the harm you might cause to another player,
especially in the case of a man trying to make a D on a throw to a woman.
The UPA rules specifically state that "Dangerous,
aggressive behaviour or reckless disregard for the safety of fellow players
is always a foul." When you suspect that the play will be a close one and
that your positioning might cause injury, don't make the play. It's simply
not worth getting yourself or somebody else hurt, no matter how competitive
you are. By the same token, there is also a responsibility on the thrower
not to make a throw that might endanger their teammate in making the play.

Bottom line is be careful out there and show some responsibility for your
actions, because everything you do invariably has consequences both good and
bad. Getting the D is great, but not at the expense of hurting somebody
else. It is, after all, just summer league where having a beer after the
game with your opponent is just as enjoyable, perhaps more so, as making a D
against him/her on the field.

STANDINGS:

(1) Grey 5-1
2) Key Lime 4-2
3) White 3-3
    Green 3-3

Monday July 19 Games:

Key Lime vs. Grey - Moses Brown lacrosse....if key lime wins, they will move
into 1st place. if grey wins, they will most likely wrap up the regular
season title

surging right now

White v. Green - Brown AC - a battle of 3-3 teams

Royal v. Navy - Brown AC - a battle of the blue and both are 2-4

Last but not least, Seth Landy of White and Greg Getchell of Key Lime want to
invite everybody in RIPUL to a shinding at their place on Saturday night on
the north side of a brown house at 252 Hope Street in Providence.
