RIPUL Overview

The Rhode Island Ultimate Player's Association, Inc. is pleased to announce that our 5th season of RIPUL coed ultimate frisbee begins Monday, June 5 at Brown Athletic Complex on Lloyd Avenue on the East Side of Providence.

RIPUL stands for Rhode Island Peoples’ Ultimate League and this is truly the Peoples’ League. In recent years, the people wanted more games to play, so this year we have substantially increased our schedule from 9 regular season games to 13 games. League games will be every Monday and every Wednesday, except for Monday July 3, Wednesday July 12, and Wednesday July 26. The 1st official game is Monday June 19. Summer League Playoffs will be held Saturday August 12 and there will be a party and awards ceremony following. All teams qualify for the playoffs.

Games will be held at Moses Brown School in Providence (corner of Hope St. and Lloyd Avenue), across the street at Brown Athletic Complex, and selected games at The Wheeler School fields in Seekonk, Mass. (a short 10-minute drive from the East Side). We only have the back field at Moses Brown to use because of construction, so most nights there will be 1 game at Moses Brown and 3 games across the street. On nights where we have conflicts at Brown, we will play 1 game at Moses Brown and 3 games at the Wheeler School fields in Seekonk. (For those with transportation issues, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you).

The cost of the league will be $45.00, the same price as last year. A RIPUL T-shirt is included. Sign-ups will be on a first-come, first served basis. In order to be included in the draft, you must complete the application and waiver, along with a written check made payable to RIUPA, INC. Please submit to Matthew Brier, 2 Dexter Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860 as soon as possible. The Sign-up and Waiver forms will also be available for download at our web site: http://www.cs.brown.edu/~lsh/ripul/.

The 8-team draft is scheduled for Thursday, June 15. However, if the league is full when we receive your application, you will be placed on a waiting list, with no guarantee that you will be able to play. So, do not wait until the last minute to sign up. Also, don't be afraid to invite friends or co-workers to join us. If they have never played before and want to check it out, we have pickup and instructional drills on Monday June 5, Wednesday June 7, Monday June 12, and Wednesday June 14 at Brown Athletic Complex.

RIPUL is about more than just playing competitive disc. "Spirit of the Game" is a critical part of RIPUL. RIPUL is about meeting and hanging out with new friends. It is about being patient and helpful with new players, and maybe enjoying a nice, cold drink after the game. So remember, compete hard and fair on the field, but most important let's have some FUN out there!!!
