People:

1) Tomorrow night's game is suposed to be very hot. Please bring water and
plenty of it. Do not rely on your teammates. And it is a good idea to drink
lots of water BEFORE the game to stay hydrated.

2) We once again had a very nice crowd at Oliver's last night. I must say
that having everybody congregate after games to enjoy a cold one and some
grub is one of the things that makes RIPUL better than the average summer
league. I have been told that there should be $1 Rolling Rocks tomorrow but
we shall see. As for the party winner last night, Dave Rosenberg did not
report in so I am going to give it to Purple for actually making a decent
showing. Good job guys.

SCHEDULE FOR WEDNESDAY June 27

(2) Denim v. (6) Jade - Moses Brown Tennis Courts
(3) Orange v.(7) Green - Wheeler Soccer Field (across Walker closest to

NO GAMES ON WEDNESDAY JULY 4

GAMES LAST NIGHT:

Denim 17 Mango 16

Denim had the dropsys all game but played big-time D especially when it
counted. Orange jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead but Denim was able to turn up
the D and took half 9-7. 2nd half saw Denim leading 15-13 when the dropsys
hit Denim again big-time and Orange was able to grab the lead 16-15.
However, denim showed great poise and tied it up. 1 point for all the
marbles. Denim pulls and on the 2nd throw Bob "the ageless wonder" Yakota
lays it all out for the huge D block which Denim quickly converted.

Burgundy 17 Purple 14 ????

I think that was the score. No game Report. Please report score to Loring
at lsh@cs.brown.edu.

Black 17 White 12
(recap by Captain Evan of Black)
The Black team somehow managed to stave off defeat in their game against a
solid all-around White team. Black jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a
couple of
good defensive stands, and then the teams traded points to 4-2 black, at which
point the momentum swung in White's favor and they came storm back to take the
lead at 5-4. Black took one ofensive point to tie it up at fives but white
still had the momentum and went up 7-5 with some enthusiastic support from a
fired up sideline. Soon after however it was the Black sideline who got fired
up as their team took 3 of the next four points to tie it up at 8-8. Then
came a grueling point for half that was so hotly contested by both teams that
yours
truly forgot there was another half to play. A stoked black defence got the
turn over in the end and punched in a short goal-line pass to take half 9-8.
First Half play was marked by excellent endzone catches by white's Andy and
Leah, both of them scoring one or more times on some good hucks. Chia,
Scott, Jeff
and most of all Josh played some great chilly offense. The Black team tried
to match this solid play with some hard running on both offense and defense.
Outstanding plays were made by all, including a nice score by Ben in traffic
and a huck pulled out of the sky by Steve Francis (not the NBA player).
The second half began with White pulling downhill to Black, I believe the
black managed to score that point after several turnovers by both teams, for
the next
several points my mind is mostly a blank. The game and score come back into
focus with White scoring to close the gap to 14-12 Black. At this point black
began to buckle down on D with everyone on the team running hard to try to
force turnovers. With an intense all around effort Black scraped together
the last
three points to take the game. However the festivities did not end there as
White finshed their cheer first beating black by a hair. They came out with
a nice rhyme and plenty of accompanying body motions ending with an
invitation to Olivers that many of us gladly accepted. Black, although
unable to beat white to the punch, had a strong showing with a cheer based on
Michael Jackson's "Black or White"
complete with back up singers and crotch grabbing dancers. Not to be out done
White then sent Leah on to the field for a series of back handsprings that
left everyone applauding. An excellent game well played by all. Thanks
White.

(another recap by Captain Chia of White)
First half was tight for white, Black took the lead 3-1, white came back and
had a 7-5 lead, but black took half at 9-8, Chia thought that scouts from
the XFL were watching the game when he leveled a hit on Mike Bradley, Mike
held on for the score...Black pulled away from White, White could not keep
up the intensity from their last game..Great Cheers by both teams, Black
dated themselves with a MTV Michael Jackson medley, young boys from the
Wheeler school were seen running in fear, as Jeff Petros performed a
frightening rendition of the One Gloved Wonder...White performed an
excellent Cheer choreographed by Laura Perry, and the coup de grace was the
17 backflips by Leah "Mary Lou Retton" Schaffer

Green 17 Jade 10
(Game report by Cory Byrum of Screaming Green)
The sun was high and the air was damp. To make matters worse at first I
thought the Screaming Greens were going to be savage that day. Fortunately I
was mistaken. The Screaming Greens once again expanded their roster to
include none other than Tu Pac. Scratch that, it's DeePak. My mistake; I
thought he sang too well. DeePak
(not the formerly mentioned Tu Pak) was a large influence for us and added
another Screaming Green who can run fast, cut hard , play crazy D and of
course smile throughout. I believe that covers the entire team except for
this mystery player named Allan Bonner. On to the game. The beginning of the
first half was tight with Jade and the Screaming Greens trading the first
four or five points. Jade opened up their long game with some sweet hucks
from Jade captain Fred Orwiller to Justin and another person we just referred
to in the war room as The Red Bandanna. The Screaming Green women Amy and
Leigh made their mark making several key cuts to save an otherwise crumbling
offence keeping our drive to the cones alive. Colin "I like to toot my own
horn"Smith stretched out the offence deep and came up with a big end zone
score off a time out to help bring us to half. Green took half 9-6. The only
play of note in the first half for our writer Cory Byrum was slamming into
Megan Nolan catching her in the chin and knocking her to the ground.
Fortunately she was ok but she professed to Captain Scott Wiant that this
might affect her ability to smile. It didn't. As for me I was fine; just call
me Liability. After the half the Screaming Green D was lethal. Key end zone
D's were made by Greg, Colin and Mo though everyone was intense. Mo also
held a killer force on the line leading to another eventual score. The MVP of
the second half was definitely Megan Nolan. She made two D's in the end zone
in one point then ran deep and caught a huck from Scott "I don't mind
throwing a huck" Wiant. What did she do next you might ask? Throw for the
score ?? Better, She called a time out so we could all catch up to her. Good
heads up playing Meg. Fred still visibly upset over the ruthless leveling of
Megan decided to tackle Cory "Liability" Byrum in the end zone while he tried
to catch a nice huck from Kevin Nagle. Both of us were ok and I even managed
to come down with the disc. The Screaming Green D held long enough and we
were victorious winning 17-10. ( I think.) After the game the cheering
ensued. Both teams cheered well though the Screaming Green Teams striking a
pose at the end to Fame ( Jade in our case ) and the addition of Tu Pac may
have given us a slight edge. I'll leave that for the critics to decide.
After the game Scott "I don't mind throwing a huck" Wiant and Cory
"Liability" Byrum decided to try to look hardcore by doing some wind sprints
with anyone else who wished to look hardcore with us. Jade Captain Fred
"Defensive Tackle" Orwiller was still visibly upset over the gratuitous
nailing of Megan Nolan plus the attempt to look hardcore and unleashed his
hellhound on the unsuspecting wind sprinters. The dog ( who I have preceded
to be friends with before the game ) heard his order to attack and did so.
The dog proceeded to take me out at the legs delivering righteous justice to
the "liability". I ran for my life. Dog 1 Cory 0.
