People:

1) Do Not Park on the Road at Wheeler!!! Just because you show up late, you
know who you are BB, doesn't make you special and allow you to break the
rules. Thank you.

2) Wednesday games:

Purple v. Black - Moses Brown Tennis Courts
Denim v. Green - Wheeler Soccer Field (across Walker closest to Woods)
Orange v. Jade - Wheeler Soccer Field (across Walker closest to Road)
Burgundy v. White - Wheeler Soccer Field (single Field on Walker)

3) Last Night's Games:

Denim 15 Black 8

Denim jumped out to a 6-0 lead but then Black regrouped and played zone where
they were able to convert a few scores. Denim took half at 9-3 or 9-4 and
the closest Black got was 12-8. The game was pretty sloppy offensively but
the D by both teams was pretty good as well.

Burgundy 17 Jade 8

This game was tied at 6 but then the wheels fell off the Jade machine.
Burgundy is extremely well-balanced and has strong women and now stands in
first place with a record of 5-1.

Purple beat Green

dont know the score, please report to lsh@cs.brown.edu

White 17 Mango (NOT ORANGE) 10

(Captain Chia of White reports):

White took an early lead when Mango was playing savage 7 and without their
captain Flip..White took half 9-2, so much for an easy game for White, Mango
clamped on a zone and made it a lot closer and matched White point for
point...everyone else played very solid but whites early lead was too much
for the Mangos to overcome...Great Cheer by White and Mango...White will be
selling CDs of our best cheers at TowerRecords July 20-32. A video and a
behind the scenes of the making of the video will be released in August...

4) STANDINGS:

Burgundy 5-1
Denim 5-1
White 4-2
Green 3-3
Purple 3-3
Black 2-4
Orange 2-4
Jade 0-6

Cory is slow today...
Green 14 vs Pruple 17
by Cory Byrum:
It was a nice day. I was the first green on the scene. It took me a while to
hobble to the field yesterday. I tried to join the pool aerobics class but
was tossed out because I lack rhythm. So I went through my normal warm-up
routine, which consists of sitting in my chair to wait and watch. There were
already a few purple players there. I watch the Screaming Greens trickle in
slowly while purple floods in 14+ players strong. I get an unsettling
feeling in my stomach while I wait. I watch them run though their drills.
They look speedy. I tried my best to pick out their best players on the team.
I quickly lost count. Vet our inspirational leader was vacant with rumors
that he had fled in terror. I personally harbor bad feelings because I lost
to purple in the finals last year. As if matters couldn’t get any worse
our trumpet player was missing.

Fortunately the Screaming Greens musical accompaniment did show up and I was
heartened by it. Then I turned again to the horde of purple and smiled. Why ?
I’ll tell you, that’s what the Screaming Greens do. The flip was
decided when Kevin called heads. It was all downhill from there. Purple shot
to an early lead taking the greens to school 3-1. The Screaming Greens
rebutted with some lessons of their own bringing the score to 4’s. I
stood by and watched helplessly as wave after wave of purple players came and
went crashing up against the bulwarks of a green island surrounded in a
ocean of purple. Yet the Screaming greens held tough and weathered the storm.
To single out people on defense becomes a tiring exercise because I
can’t mention everyone here so I’ll talk about offence a bit.
Screaming Green Jenna, poster woman for Chilly O’s cereal, proved to
be one of the only people who played a very consistent game. She was never
rushed and al! ways made the right throw especi ally when it came to
scoring. We could all benefit to follow her example. Mo was a huge offensive
weapon scoring a cornucopia of points throughout the day. If Jenna was
chilly then Scott” I hate it when people call me Scotty” Wiant
was boiling. He had the disc and was five feet away from a score. The Greens
were doing their best to stack up and leave space in the end zone. I was on
the swing. I watched as he ran up to the disc and said “Andre
don’t move.” And proceeded to drill the disc into the grass
inches in front of him. Poor Andre was showered in grass as the disc cut
it’s way to the ground piling grass over Andre’s cleats until he
was standing in a five inch clump of clippings. Here’s a tip always
replace your divots it’s good spirit. Or take the time to make the good
throw and don’t worry about it.

Well I have reamed my Captain enough for this email and he knew it was
coming. Back to the game.. I personally had the pleasure of marking up on
the top draft pick Harper from brown a lot. Let me just say it sucked. The
only thing I could contain was my own frustration. It was a great learning
experience. Purple took half 9-7. At the half purple got even more people.
They had like thirty people I swear. Either that or I was seeing double.

After the half the Screaming Greens came back to tie the game but
couldn’t take the lead. Colin and Dave were offence machines and each
must have been eating Chilly O’s cereal to help the greens score . We
traded points for a while and Dave ( I think. Tall with red hair. ) from
purple came up with some sweet grabs and a couple of amazing second efforts.
It was soon after I saw the purple wave crash over us and swept the green
islanders away into a frothy sea of purple. The final score was 17-14. The
Screaming Greens using that harmony thing we picked up from burgundy won the
cheer in my opinion with the most stellar cheer we could have hoped for. Good
game purple.
