blue velvet 16 purple 15
last time these teams faced, purple could not field a team and
forfeited. tonight was hot, hazy, humid and purple had enough to play
but only 8-9 people total. Blue came out playing its characteristic zone
but Purple completely shredded it, jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead. Blue
rebounded and made it 3-2 but then hit a bunch of bumps in the road losing half
9-4. Purple was running hard and Jason Donahue was breaking marks all over
the place. Blue was in a funk as evidenced by their scoring a clear goal
but failing to acknowledge it as such and then proceeding to throw it to a
wide-open receiver who for some reason was way out of bounds. Go figure,
it was that kinda night for Blue. Blue needed to regroup. 2nd half
started with a quick blue run started by a Mike Dussault to Matty long huck for
a score. Blue made it 9-7 but Purple was not to be denied. Blue
stayed close but Purple was able to squeeze out a 14-10 lead. Chris Sanosi
was on fire making a sick full extension layout catch and at least 1 huge sky
grab. Vette and the rest of the troops were solid but were clearly running
out of gas. Blue had its usual army. Blue scored 3 in a row to make
it 14-13 but Josie's flick to Ben made it 15-13. We then capped the game
at 16. Blue kept the pressure on but Scotty was leading the troops on
1 last push. Purple was turning it over more regularly and Blue's offense
started flowing. Blue makes it 15-15 and gets the turn. A pass to
the Chadster and Blue completed the big comeback win. Best game of the
season for Blue and Purple. Purple really played with alot of heart as did
Blue who never gave up. Gotta love RIPUL.
