What a slugfest. Like two heavyweights going the distance, this game had it all. Gold and Maroon traded points to begin the game with both teams looking to be in mid season form in only the first game of the season. Gold held a slight edge through most of the first half and got up by as much as four in the half. A maroon timeout and a couple of quick scores to follow before Gold diggers took the half 9-7. Maroon stayed close the entire second half but could not quite close the gap on due to some fine skying in the endzone by gold. Finally at 16, Maroon tied the game. One point to win it, universe point! After a few turns and some committed defense, Maroon pulled the victory.
